Smokies Stick Generals with 7-2 Loss
|
Spirited fans greeted the Jackson Generals for their clash with the Tennessee Smokies.
The Tennessee Smokies picked up a win at The Ballpark at Jackson, taking down the Jackson Generals, 7-2. Starting pitcher JJ Goss was a big reason why. In 6 innings, Goss surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs.
Mason Martin, the 24-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Martin contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Tennessee up, 1-0.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Goss said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
Tennessee improves to 72-56 with the win. They lead their division by 7 games.
