Tight Tilt Goes to Biscuits, 3-2
|
The Montgomery Biscuits got a stellar effort from pitcher Brandon Smith, helping Montgomery score a win over the visiting Mississippi Braves, 3-2. The winning pitcher was Smith, now 7-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Raúl Montoya earned the save for Montgomery, his 11th.
Freddy Zamora made an early impact for Montgomery when he stroked his 13th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which came with two out in the bottom of the third, put the Biscuits on top, 3-0.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Montgomery manager Joey Cora.
The Biscuits saw their win-loss record go to 71-56. At the same time, the Braves fell to 76-53.
