Shuckers Win at Jackson, 3-2
|
The Biloxi Shuckers topped the Jackson Generals, 3-2, in Southern League action at The Ballpark at Jackson. The standout performance belonged to Biloxi pitcher and San Diego, California, native Mason Pelio. The winning pitcher was Pelio, now 8-12. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9. Biloxi, with the win, is 38-92.
Biloxi used a well-timed hit by Edgar Torres to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Shuckers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Torres told the Biloxi Daily News.
