Biscuits Shut Out Generals, 3-0
|
The Montgomery Biscuits topped the Jackson Generals by the score of 3-0, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Nick Doyle. Doyle went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk for the Biscuits. Montgomery reliever Brandon Smith picked up the win to move to 3-0. Mithcell Leidner suffered the loss. Jake Killingsworth was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 11 save opportunities.
The Biscuits got a big at-bat from second baseman Raúl Meléndez. For the game, Meléndez was 1 for 4 with a triple. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Montgomery a 1-0 lead.
"This team is real focused right now," said Montgomery manager Joey Cora.
With the victory, the Biscuits upped their record to 71-64.
