The New York (LV) Mets topped the Cincinnati (LV) Reds, 9-5, with left fielder Bernie Reeves playing a big role. Reeves went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Mets in the win. New York (LV) raised its record to 33-20 with the win.
Had Slade Wilks not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Wilks hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Mets.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Wilks.
