Volcanoes Deal Dust Devils 3-2 Loss
|
Tri-City got a terrific performance from pitcher Sean Clifford, but it wasn't enough to beat the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Salem-Keizer won the PK Park contest, 3-2. Clifford threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Salem-Keizer reliever Matt McDonald was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Luis Vargas took the loss. Matt Covington earned the save, his 5th.
Carson Yates hit a run-scoring triple off Luis Vargas in the top of the tenth, which put the Volcanoes in front, 3-2. In addition to the triple, Yates had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
"This was a tough loss," said Tri-City manager Peter Bourjos. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
The win gives Salem-Keizer a season record of 8-8.
