The Port St. Lucie Mets beat the Lakeland Tigers, 5-3, at Joker Marchant Stadium. The Mets got a fine performance from designated hitter Tyler Whitaker, who threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The win gives Port St. Lucie a season record of 23-13.

Port St. Lucie used the timely hitting of Kemp Alderman to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mets on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

In postgame comments to the Port St. Lucie Observer, Alderman said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
