Matthews, Orioles Get 2-1 Win
|
Zebby Matthews never let the Astros get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Orioles to a win, 2-1. Madison Jeffrey finished to wrap up his 11th save. With the win, Sarasota pushed its record to 24-13.
In his 77-pitch effort, Matthews allowed no runs on 1 hit over 6.1 innings. He walked 0 and struck out 7.
Afterward, Orioles manager Yosai Okada was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
