Smokies Lose By a Run at Montgomery, 2-1
|
The Tennessee Smokies got a superb performance from pitcher Carter Baumler, but the Montgomery Biscuits still won the game, 2-1. Baumler threw 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs. Jake Killingsworth was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 14 save opportunities. Montgomery now has a record of 75-66 with the win.
Jordan Brewer went 2 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs for Montgomery. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Carter Baumler. It was his 56th RBI of the season.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Brewer said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
