Rays Take Down Orioles, 1-0
|
The Port Charlotte Rays picked up a win at Ed Smith Stadium, knocking off the Sarasota Orioles, 1-0. Starting pitcher Jake Madden was a big reason why. Port Charlotte reliever Drew Swann picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Cade Fisher shouldered the loss. The triumph puts Port Charlotte at 43-24 for the season.
Reed Trimble, the 23-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Trimble contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Port Charlotte up, 1-0.
"Jake -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Rays manager Lou Marson. "He was the key to us winning."
