Lynchburg Win to Pull Even With Wilmington
In a crucial game, the Lynchburg Hillcats put on their best show, beating the Wilmington Blue Rocks by a final score of 12-7 today. Yeow-whye Zhang was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Lynchburg and Wilmington are now tied at 2 wins apiece in the best-of-5 affair.

Lynchburg used a clutch hit from Luis Matos to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hillcats ahead, 6-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Ever since we qualified for the playoffs, the guys have been razzing me about how I'm going to embarrass myself out there," the rookie Matos said with a smile. "I'm glad to prove them wrong, at least for a day."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 10th , 2024 at Grainger Stadium in Lynchburg.
