C Bech Lights Up Cubs for 5 RBIs as TinCaps Tie R1
|
The Fort Wayne TinCaps and the South Bend Cubs will take the Round 1 to a decisive 5th game. The Fort Wayne offense came alive in a must-win situation today to beat South Bend 12-10 at Parkview Field to force the series into one final game. Fort Wayne catcher Jack Bech was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the sixth when Bech hit a 3-run home run. It propelled the TinCaps into the lead, 9-8.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said TinCaps manager Landon Powell. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at O'Brien Field in South Bend.
