The Columbia Fireflies started the Round 1 in dominant fashion today, blowing out the host Augusta GreenJackets at Lake Olmstead Stadium by a score of 13-1 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Fireflies first baseman Will Brown went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 5.

Columbia used a well-timed hit by Connor Norby to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Fireflies ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"This was a good win for us," said Norby. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta-Richmond.
