Blue Jays Clip Cardinals 3-2 in R1 Contest
The Bluefield Blue Jays and the Johnson City Cardinals will take the Championship to a decisive 5th game. Facing a must-win situation at Howard Johnson Field today, the Blue Jays beat the Cardinals 3-2 in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Bluefield right-hander Blake Money had a standout performance. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball.

Bluefield used the timely hitting of Michael Larranaga to capture the win. The third baseman socked a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.

Money called the win "a collective effort."

The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 30th , 2023 at Bowen Field in Bluefield.
