Wiemer Blasts RoughRiders, Travelers Take Game 1, 4-3
|
The Arkansas Travelers started the Championship in style today, winning on the road against the Frisco RoughRiders at Dr Pepper Ballpark by a score of 4-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Travelers right fielder Joey Wiemer excelled. He went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.
The Travelers took a 4-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Facing Frisco hurler Jonathan Stiever with two outs, Wiemer hit a 2-run home run.
After the game, Arkansas manager Josh Holiday applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco.
