Road Win Lifts Surprise (TEX) to 1-0 Lead in R2
|
The 19-year-old rookie on the mound turned out to be the least of the Tempe Angels worries.
Giving a high-pressure playoff start to youngster Channing O’Donnell seemed like a risky move for the Angels, but it was one of the few things that went right at Tempe Diablo Stadium today. O’Donnell tossed 5.1 solid innings, but it was all for naught after Tempe dropped a 3-0 decision. With the win, Surprise (TEX) took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 Championship.
Kyle Spraker took Channing O’Donnell deep in the top of the fifth. His solo home run put the Rangers on top, 1-0. In all, Spraker had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Spraker attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tempe Diablo Stadium in Tempe.
