Red Sox Lose to Blue Jays, 5-2
|
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Boston Red Sox, 5-2, with second baseman Juan Hidalgo playing a big role. Hidalgo was 3-4 with 3 singles for the Blue Jays in the win. Toronto reliever Vinnie Pestano picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Drew Lock was tagged with the loss. Toronto, now 47-35, holds down second place in the American League East.
The Blue Jays got an important contribution from catcher Charles Cutler, who in the bottom of the first knocked a 1-0 splitter into center for a 2-run double. It was his 11th double of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 4-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Toronto manager Bruce Bochy. "It's usually not just one thing."
