The Kansas City Royals got a sterling performance from pitcher Chris Rivers, but the Cleveland Guardians still prevailed, 6-5. Rivers threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. At 37-53, the Guardians find themselves in 4th place in the American League Central.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Cleveland trailing 5-4, Chris Betts hit a fastball from Luis Martínez for a 2-run home run, giving the Guardians the walk-off win.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Betts told a Cleveland Times reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
