Cubs Collect 6-3 Win Versus New York
Chicago and New York duked it out and the Cubs came out victorious.

The Chicago Cubs downed the New York Mets, 6-3. The hitting star was third baseman Cameron Cannon. Cannon went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs for the Cubs. The winner was Curt Branch, who threw 94 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 10 hits. Norberto Vargas was credited with the save, his 6th in 8 tries.

Chicago took a 5-3 lead on Cannon's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Greg Allison in the top of the seventh, propelled Chicago to the win.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Cannon.

The Cubs raised their record to 46-67.
