Sherburne Slugs Tigers to 10-1 Win
|
With center fielder Joe Sherburne leading the charge, the Detroit Tigers defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 10-1, at Comerica Park. Sherburne, who is on pace for 91 RBI this season, hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. The first-place Tigers, at 66-52, now lead their division by 2 games.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from first baseman Yordan Alvarez. For the game, Alvarez was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 28th home run of the season gave Detroit a 2-1 lead.
