The Atlanta Braves had to overcome a fine effort from San Francisco pitcher Dave Groves to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Oracle Park. Groves went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Nick McCully notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. Atlanta has now won 3 straight, while the Giants have lost 4 in a row.
Atlanta needed the clutch hitting of Jake Fromm to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Braves on top, 3-2. For the game, Fromm had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
