Indians Turn Back Minnesota, 5-4
|
The Cleveland Indians did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins at Progressive Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Austin Malinowski, who captured player of the game honors. Malinowski picked up the win for Cleveland, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 10-9. Ken Gary converted his 4th save in 4 tries.
The Indians got a big at-bat from second baseman William Hawkinson. For the game, Hawkinson went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Cleveland a 3-1 lead.
"This was a good win," said Hawkinson.
Cleveland is now riding a 3-game win streak.
