New York starter Spencer Strider had a strong outing against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-1 win. In 6.1 innings, Strider surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Joey Washington, credited with the save, is now 9 for 11 in save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Arinori Arai, the six-time All-Star . Arai contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put New York up, 2-0.
"Spencer just went about his business, throwing strikes," said New York manager Ozzie Guillen.
The win puts New York at 49-96.
