In a low-scoring affair between the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and the Columbus Clippers, pitcher Alonso Sánchez was the difference between victory and defeat. The Lehigh Valley right-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 IronPigs win. Gabriel Flores locked down his 21st save. The IronPigs, at 38-30, sit in second place in the North.
Lehigh Valley used the bat of Markus Porter to capture the win. The designated hitter jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the IronPigs ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"Every loss hurts," said Columbus manager Derin McMains. "But this was a tough one."
