Mud Hens Win at Rochester, 5-3
|
Ken Corder impressed in the 5-3 Toledo win over Rochester. Corder was 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Lou Carlson came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 3-1. The third-place Mud Hens are 34-35.
Toledo used the timely hitting of Mike Nixon to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mud Hens on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Nixon said.
