Indians Suffer 5-3 Setback
|
The Gwinnett Stripers trumped the Indianapolis Indians, 5-3, at Victory Field. Gwinnett catcher Dallas Beaver was terrific. He went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Gwinnett reliever Tristan Stobbie picked up the win, upping his record to 3-7. George Clark absorbed the loss. The first-place Stripers, at 58-41, now lead their division by 2½ games.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Justin Foscue was at the plate when Gwinnett scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Stripers to go in front, 4-3.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Beaver told the Gwinnett Bulletin.
