Pawtucket Gets 7-6 Win
|
The Pawtucket Red Sox reigned over the Toledo Mud Hens in damp conditions.
The Pawtucket Red Sox bested the Toledo Mud Hens, 7-6, at Fifth Third Field. Shane Opitz was one of the standouts. He was 2-3 with 2 singles, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI. Pawtucket reliever Alex Zuinga picked up the win to move to 1-0. Andrew Burke suffered the loss.
It could have been a different outcome for Pawtucket, had it not been for Jonathon Pike, the 28-year old center fielder . Pike contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Pawtucket up, 7-6.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Pike said after the game.
At 49-55, Pawtucket is in third place in the North.
