IronPigs Come Up Short at Syracuse, 4-3
|
Syracuse starter Jasseel De La Cruz pitched well against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at NBT Bank Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Brad Smith was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities. The second-place Chiefs raised their record to 57-62.
Tommy Bartlett took Hudson Henry deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Chiefs on top, 4-2. In all, Bartlett had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Lehigh Valley manager Troy Gingrich. "But we decided not to take it."
