The Toledo Mud Hens faced a tough opponent in Charlotte pitcher Jayson Bishop, but did just enough to pull out the victory at BB&T Ballpark by a final score of 5-4. Bishop went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Toledo reliever Carlos González got the win, raising his record to 6-2. Nathan Schuessler was tagged with the loss. Andrew Burke earned the save, his 12th, for the Mud Hens.

Toledo used the timely hitting of John Williams to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mud Hens on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It was a good effort all around," said Williams.

Toledo, at 69-70, holds down last place in the West.
