Mud Hens Fall Short at Columbus, 2-1
|
Toledo pitcher John McGuire gave the Clippers all they could handle, but in the end, Columbus left Huntington Park with a win, 2-1. McGuire allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 6.1 innings. Alex Scherff, credited with the win, is now 6-6. He allowed no runs on 2 hits. Columbus is 73-69 and Toledo, with the loss, 70-72.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Columbus right fielder Kristian Robinson, facing Andrew Burke, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Clippers the 2-1 win.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Robinson said.
