Victory Pushes Rainiers Record to 47-41
|
Sacramento got a terrific game from right fielder Jon Payton. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Tacoma, 4-3. Payton was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Picking up the save was Myles Brennan. He's now 3 for 4 in save chances. Tacoma has a 5-game win streak, while Sacramento has lost 3 in a row.
Andrew Hardy swatted a solo home run for Tacoma in the bottom of the eighth. The second baseman went 2 for 3 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 2.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Sacramento manager Mike Jirschele. "But we decided not to take it."
