Rumble Ponies Jolt Thunder, 7-4, with Late Rally

The Rumble Ponies grabbed a win, 7-4, at Mercer County Waterfront Park, overcoming a fine effort from Trenton pitcher Hunter Bowling. Bowling went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Michael McAvene got the save, his 5th in 5 chances. The win gives Binghamton a season record of 49-42.
Binghamton used the timely hitting of Aaron Oberkfel to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rumble Ponies on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Oberkfel told reporters after the game.
