|
Good production from shortstop Avery Southall helped the Binghamton Rumble Ponies topple the Portland Sea Dogs, 6-3. Southall was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Rumble Ponies. Michael McAvene converted his 14th save in 14 tries. With the win, Binghamton upped its record to 70-55.
Southall had a timely hit for Binghamton in the top of the seventh. With Portland trailing 3-2, he turned a first pitch changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Binghamton.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Southall.
