Blue Rocks Need Extra Innings to Top Pelicans, 2-0
Jackie Robinson Ballpark was the site of the home opener for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The contest featured a prime matchup between Tate Rodemaker of the visiting Wilmington Blue Rocks and Kade Wells of the Pelicans. The final score was 2-0, the Blue Rocks getting the win. Kade Wells turned in the best performance. Wilmington reliever Pete Hansen picked up the win to move to 1-0. Gavin Collyer suffered the loss.

Wilmington needed the clutch hitting of Trayce McCoy to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Blue Rocks on top, 2-0. For the game, McCoy had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," McCoy said.
