Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium was the site of the home opener for the Salem Red Sox. The contest featured a prime matchup between Justin Hart of the visiting Lynchburg Hillcats and Luke McGuire of the Red Sox. The final score was 7-6, the Hillcats getting the win. Isaiah Greene turned in the best performance. Kobe Robinson, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. Jorge Martínez recorded the save for Lynchburg, his 1st of the season.

Lynchburg used the timely hitting of Carlos Aguilar to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hillcats on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Nice win for us," said Aguilar. "Now we'll go after the next one."
