The Greensboro Grasshoppers got a stellar performance from pitcher Joe Gray, who handcuffed the Hagerstown offense en route to a win, 5-1, at NewBridge Bank Park. In 7.2 innings, Gray surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Raymond Wilson locked down his 1st save.
Travis Nichols hit a bases-clearing triple off Manuel Ruíz in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Grasshoppers in front, 4-1. Nichols had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"Good win for our guys," said Nichols.
Greensboro is off to a hot start at 2-1.
