The umbrellas came out during the Birmingham-Biloxi contest at MGM Park.

Biloxi got a decent performance from pitcher Erik Thomas, but it wasn't enough to beat the Birmingham Barons. Birmingham won the MGM Park contest, 5-3. Thomas threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Keaton Dunsford was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

The Barons got an important contribution from catcher Rob Markley, who in the top of the fourth knocked a 1-0 fastball into left-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Barons ahead, 3-1.

Markley told a Birmingham Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

Birmingham is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 7th win in 21 games.
