Late Magic Gets Chattanooga 5-2 Win
|
The Chattanooga Lookouts took Pensacola pitcher Kevin Matthews's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium. The final score had Chattanooga getting past the Blue Wahoos, 5-2. Matthews went 8.1 innings and allowed 5 runs, striking out 3. Reliever Marcos Márquez picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Kevin Matthews took the loss. Lee Young earned the save for Chattanooga, his 5th.
Chattanooga used a timely hit from Jordyn Adams to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lookouts ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Adams said his team "played with focus."
The Lookouts go to 15-14, putting them 4th in the North.
