5-2 Win Gets Delmarva to 8-3
|
Delmarva and Kannapolis duked it out and the Shorebirds came out victorious.
Shorebirds center fielder Sergio Vallés put his stamp on his team's 5-2 win over the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. Vallés went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Delmarva in the contest. At 8-3, the Shorebirds have played well so far.
Matt Shaw had a big bases-clearing double for the Shorebirds in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Delmarva leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Anthony Garcia and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shorebirds ahead, 5-1.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Vallés.
