Generals Earn 6-5 Win Versus Smokies
|
The Jackson Generals topped the Tennessee Smokies by the score of 6-5, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Sherman Davis. Davis went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Generals. Geoffroy Castelucci, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 1.1 innings. Sam Smith closed the game out for Jackson, earning his 3rd save.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and a runner on 1st, the batter, Sherman Davis, hit a single. It helped Jackson seize the win.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Tennessee manager Paul Maholm. "But we decided not to take it."
The victory gives Jackson a record of 24-24.
