The Rome Braves topped the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 5-1, in South Atlantic League action at State Mutual Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Rome pitcher and Traverse City, Michigan, native Peyton Smith. Greensboro drops to 5-7.

Nick Goodwin dealt the Grasshoppers a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Rome leading 2-1, Goodwin hit a 0-2 fastball for a run-scoring single.

"We'll savor this win," Goodwin told the Rome Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
