Ratzlaff Excels in 6-4 Tennessee Win
|
The Tennessee Smokies defeated the Birmingham Barons, 6-4, at Regions Field today. Leading the charge for Tennessee was second baseman Ricky Ratzlaff. He went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Felipe Franks notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Jeff Criswell earned the save for Tennessee, his 4th of the year.
JJ Goss didn't waste any time giving his team the lead. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run single to put Tennessee on top, 2-0.
"I still think this team can play even better," Ratzlaff told the Tennessee Chronicle.
Tennessee, at 40-30, is 2 games up in the North.
