The Hickory Crawdads got a strong performance from pitcher Ryan Bruno, who stymied the Lexington offense en route to a win, 8-0, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Bruno, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. Early on, the Crawdads, at 12-3, have excelled.

Hickory used a well-timed hit by Judd Brown to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Crawdads ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Bruno. "But I like how we're playing right now."
