Blue Jays Collect 12-8 Win Over Royals
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Kauffman Stadium.
Roberto López left his imprint on the 12-8 Toronto win against the Kansas City Royals. López, who signed a 2-year contract worth $6,600,000 on 12/29/2022, was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Vinnie Pestano in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Addison Reed took the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Braulio Pardo came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Kansas City pitcher Kazuya Takano, he hit a 1-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Toronto on top, 9-8.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," López told the Toronto Times.
The win gives Toronto a record of 3-2.
