The Northwest Arkansas Naturals beat the Amarillo Sod Poodles, 10-2, at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. The win was due in part to first baseman Jordan Jenkins, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was José Ortega. He tossed 101 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. The second-place Naturals are now 22-26, the Sod Poodles 16-32.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Cuba Bess? The Northwest Arkansas designated hitter had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Naturals on top, 3-1. For the game, Bess had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Jenkins said.
