Hammons Field was the site for Texas League action featuring the Amarillo Sod Poodles and Springfield Cardinals.

The Springfield Cardinals downed the Amarillo Sod Poodles, 8-4. The hitting star was shortstop Robert Puason. Puason went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Cardinals. Jon Herbert got the save, the 4th for him this season.

Had William Stevens not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Stevens hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Cardinals.

"Feels good to get the job done," Stevens said after the game.

The win puts Springfield at 20-32.
