Starting pitcher Ryan Frey pitched well enough to help the Tulsa Drillers beat the Amarillo Sod Poodles, 9-5. Frey, now 4-6, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Today's win puts Tulsa at 34-48, while Amarillo falls to 34-48.
Tulsa relied on the hitting of Christopher Morel to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the second inning to put the Drillers on top, 6-1. For the game, Morel had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Morel told a Tulsa Herald reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
