The Asheville Tourists defeated the Columbia Fireflies, 9-7, at McCormick Field today. Leading the charge for Asheville was second baseman Chance Ferniz. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The winner was Jacob Clark, who threw 100 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits. Sam Keating earned the save for Asheville, his 13th of the year.

Asheville took a 8-4 lead on Ferniz's 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Melvin Teague in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Asheville to the win.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Ferniz said after the game.

After today's action, Asheville sits at 23-16, while Columbia falls to 22-17.
