Tourists Sink Legends, 9-5
|
Lexington got a terrific game from first baseman Tony Martínez. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Asheville, 9-5. Martínez went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Asheville leads the South by 3½ games.
Carson Williams, who is tied for 6th in the SAL in home runs with 5, aided the Asheville cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Williams told the Asheville Gazette.
