The Modesto Nuts had to overcome a fine performance from Inland Empire pitcher Matthew Milton to grab a 3-1 win at Arrowhead Credit Union Park. Milton allowed 3 runs over 6.2 innings. Tim Wilson collected save number 3. The win brings the Nuts to 7-3, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

Modesto used the timely hitting of Daniel Taylor to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Nuts on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Modesto skipper Tony Cingrani.
